Greens try to get answers…ask weak questions

Never mind the $30 billion gas hub. Think of four bilbies

Andrew Bolt – Thursday, September 22, 11 (12:04 am)

The Greens ask the big questions in Parliament about our future:

Senator SIEWERT (Western Australia—Australian Greens Whip) (14:17):  My question is to the Minister representing the Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities, Senator Conroy. I ask about the recent sightings of one adult and three baby bilbies at the site of the proposed James Price Point gas hub, which is prime habitat for the bilby. Bilbies are acknowledged as a vulnerable species by both the WA and federal governments, yet Woodside has begun clearing on this site. Does the uncontrolled clearing through this area contravene the government’s own bilby recovery plan, and has the minister asked his department to consider this evidence in light of that recovery plan and the EPBC approvals process?

Just pick up the damn bilbies and move them. How hard can that be? Well Andrew, first, you have to find them, as Woodside knows, they couldn’t. Bilbies are nocturnal, secretive, and live underground in burrows that cover a large area. And it’s not just the bilbies…

My comment on Bolt’s blog this morning, add yours, too.

I must admit, a pretty weak effort from the Greens, however their are hundreds of reasons to stop Woodside from this travesty against the Broome Community, the indigenous people who are custodians for this area, the Goolarabooloo mob, who have always said no to Woodside and are not represented by the KLC. The dinosaur footprints, the whale calving grounds, the declared rare plant species and communities, turtle nesting rookeries, rare reptiles, registered aboriginal sites are all a part of James Price Point, the most biodiverse part of the Dampier Peninsula, and Woodside’s and the Barnett Government plan is to destroy it all for the biggest Industrial refinery site in the world after Qatar.
I could go on but    Woodside’s propaganda here will answer a few questions for why the thousands of people from the Broome Community are fighting hard to stop the destruction.
Look what has happened to the Pilbara, there is no community, it is all about greed.
